Snoo Robot: Robo-Cradle

Snoo is one of these electrified cribs that rocks your baby to sleep automatically, but a few other features give it a chubby little leg up on the competition. A built-in swaddling strap lets you lock baby down, and mesh sides let air flow freely through. It monitors the baby’s movement and noise, playing womb noises and rocking with a “womb-like motion,” whatever that means, to calm them down.

Robomintoner Robot: Badminton Bot

Artificial Intelligence and robots have ventured into almost all fields now, be it medical, military or science. In their quest for global takeover, they have not left sports behind, and have played chess with top ranked players and defeated world champions at Go. Now the latest game to see the debut of a robot and one that could give stiff competition to players is badminton.

Lokomat Robot: Robot-Assisted Walking Therapy

The Lokomat is a robotic treadmill training system that uses a body weight support system to suspend individuals while their legs are attached to robotic legs that assist with basic walking functions. The Lokomat system allows the therapist to control how fast the patient walks, how much body weight the patient is able to support and how much assistance the robotic legs give the patient through range of motion.

CR200 robot: Six-Legged Robot Crabster

Developed by the Korean Institute of Ocean Science and Technology (KIOST), the Crabster offers a solution to a longstanding problem. While propeller-driven craft do not work well in fierce tides, and divers are limited to calm, relatively shallow seas, the new machine mimics the design of crabs and lobsters that live in stormy waters but are still able to control their movements.

MoRo Robot: Assistant Robot

Ewaybot, a startup founded in China in 2015, says MoRo “is designed for academic research and education, business activities, as well as domestic assistance,” but we can’t see anyone not named Mark Cuban spending that kind of dough for a home robot. So it’ll start as a robot for academic research.

Peeqo Robot: The GIF Robot

Abhishek Singh graduated from NYU’s ITP program and clearly he learned a lot about the future of computing. During his tenure there he quickly fell in love with hardware startups and, with a little grit and programming work, he created Peeqo, a robot that responds only in GIFs. That’s right: this is a robot that replies only in animated video clips.

iCub Robot: Smart Humanoid Robot

The iCub is the humanoid robot developed at IIT as part of the EU project RobotCub and subsequently adopted by more than 20 laboratories worldwide. It has 53 motors that move the head, arms & hands, waist, and legs. It can see and hear, it has the sense of proprioception (body configuration) and movement (using accelerometers and gyroscopes). We are working to improve on this in order to give the iCub the sense of touch and to grade how much force it exerts on the environment.
