MoRo Robot: Assistant Robot

1

Ewaybot, a startup founded in China in 2015, says MoRo “is designed for academic research and education, business activities, as well as domestic assistance,” but we can’t see anyone not named Mark Cuban spending that kind of dough for a home robot. So it’ll start as a robot for academic research. MoRo stands about 47 inches tall and weighs 77 lbs with an 8-hour battery life; Ewaybot says auto-recharging is coming in the near future. MoRo can grasp and handle objects, including everything from a bottle of water to tissues. Its shoulders can move up and down, and MoRo’s body is covered in a flame retardant ABS case. With a combination of Intel RealSense camera and a 2-DOF head, MoRo has a 360 degree field-of-view with no blind spots. With real-time voice control, users could interact with Moro in natural language. MoRo can navigate both indoor and outdoor environments with its differential drive base and hybrid sensors.
