Sanbot Robot: Cloud-enabled Service Robot

The plucky little robot has flipper arms, a pair of wheels for feet and a body chock full of various sensors to help it perform a factotum of different jobs, from security guard to nursing home companion to educational assistant. According to the company, this iteration of Sanbot has already been deployed at various spots in China from retail establishments to airports.

PAL Robotics, based in Barcelona, Spain, was contracted to build a robot that could stand next to the likes of Honda's ASIMO. Now, after nearly a decade, the company has unveiled its third generation humanoid robot.

R1 Robot: Personal Humanoid Robot

It's born as the new humanoid of the robotic ecosystem of IIT – Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia. Italian design, variable height of 20 cm starting from 1.25m, weight 50 kg, 50% plastic and 50% carbon fibre and metal, it is designed to operate in domestic and professional environments. At the same time, with the involvement of private investors, IIT will implement the production model on a large scale in the next 12-18 months.

Little Fish Robot: AI Voice-controlled Home Robot

While Amazon and Google are battling for voice assistant dominance in the home, they've mostly neglected other countries. Now Baidu, in partnership with AiNemo, is building the Xiaoyu Zaijia ("Little Fish") family robot, which, on paper, has most of Alexa's talents along with a big screen, a camera, and a touch of robotics. If you couldn't guess, it's for China.

Katia Robot: A Robotic Arm

KATIA is supposedly super easy to use. More importantly, it can carry payloads as heavy as 1 kilogram, and move them around within a 1 meter radius with sub-millimeter precision. That makes the arm a natural fit for production line work;

Vortex Robot: Robotic Toy

According to DFRobot’s CEO Ricky Ye, the company wanted to build a robot that would make learning robotics fun for younger children. The team already had plenty of experience building robot kits for schools and teachers, he notes, so it was able to leverage what had historically been the most popular elements used in classes and competitions when designing the new robot toy.

Cheetah Robot: The Running Jump Robot

The Cheetah robot has an articulated back that flexes back and forth on each step, increasing its stride and running speed, much like the animal does. The current version of the Cheetah robot runs on a high-speed treadmill in the laboratory where it is powered by an off-board hydraulic pump and uses a boom-like device to keep it running in the center of the treadmill.
