HBS-1 Robot, HBS-1

HBS-1 Robot, The child-sized robot has anatomically-correct dimensions that closely mimic human motion with sufficient DOF. The robot has the dimensions and features of a seven-year-old child and is made entirely of 3D printed ABS parts and off the shelf components for maximum strength, simplicity and cost-effectiveness. Most parts of the robot are fabricated with acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) using rapid prototyping technology. Servomotors and shape memory alloy actuators are used as actuating mechanisms.

Specifications:

  • Mostly 3D printed build and off the shelf components
  • Humanoid is the size of a medium-sized child
  • Can be used to interact and teach children with disabilities
  • Uses minimum build approach to reduce complexity
  • Powered by a DC power supply (Topward Model 6306D)
  • Five actuators in each hand
  • 3D printing total time: 300 hours
