Octinion Robot, Octinion

Octinion Robot is designed and built by Belgian engineering company Octinion. Using some smart machine vision algorithms and a 3D-printed hand, it’s able to work out when a particular strawberry is ripe for plucking, and then pick it off the forb (yep, we hadn’t heard that word either!) without causing any damage. Octinion’s fully autonomous strawberry picking robot is capable of picking strawberries without bruising them. The robot used 3D vision to detect ripe strawberries. It uses a soft touch gripper to avoid damaging the strawberries. This machine is capable of picking one strawberry every 3 seconds. Picking can be done based on based on strawberry characteristics.
